Nigeria Immigration Service wants to join the fight against crime in Yobe

The Nigeria Immigration Service wants to join forces with the Joint Task Force (JTF) to fight crime better in Yobe State.

They talked about this when Assistant Comptroller General Sunday James visited Governor Mai Mala Buni in Damaturu on Wednesday.

James asked the governor to allow their officers to work together with the military and police.

He said that the military and police alone can’t find non-Nigerians involved in crimes. James believes that their officers, who have experience with the JTF, can help catch these criminals.

“I want to beg His Excellency, let there be joint operations because the military and the police alone cannot fish out non-Nigerians.”

“In the next security meeting Sir, I want it to be part of the discussion, that there must be joint operations our officers included, most of them have been on JTF so if they are allowed to use their skills, they will be able to fish out these criminal elements infiltrating our Country, particularly at this material time”.

He also praised the governors of Yobe and Borno for making their states safer. James said he could travel from Maiduguri to Damaturu without needing a big escort because of the improved security.

Governor Buni thanked James for the visit and promised to consider his request. He said they understand the challenges Nigeria and Yobe State face, especially with crimes happening across borders.
