Nigeria Customs strengthens collaboration with its counterpart in Benin Republic

In a concerted effort to bolster the enduring partnership between the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and its counterpart in the Republic of Benin, a delegation led by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Mr. Adewale Adeniyi, embarked on a significant mission to meet with the Director-General of the Customs Administration of Benin Republic.
 The objective was to deliberate on strategies aimed at enhancing trade activities between the two nations and ensuring the seamless implementation of previously discussed recommendations during their meeting in Cotonou.
During the meeting, Adeniyi emphasized the importance of the established framework for cooperation between the customs administrations of both countries.
This framework was established at a higher level by the respective heads of state, President Patrice Talon of Benin and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria, demonstrating their shared commitment to collaboration.
Adeniyi highlighted the unity of effort between the customs of both countries, built upon this foundation of cooperation.
In response, Mrs. Adidjatou Hassan Zanouvi, the Director-General of Benin Customs Administration, welcomed the Nigerian delegation and reiterated their unwavering commitment to executing the mutually agreed-upon measures.
She underscored the significance of thorough monitoring to ensure the effective implementation of these measures.
Zanouvi emphasized that the collaborative endeavors between the Customs administrations of both countries serve as a testament to their shared dedication to facilitating smooth trade operations and efficiently managing cross-border activities for the mutual benefit of both nations.
During the visit, the Customs boss, Adeniyi, also took the opportunity to inspect ongoing projects within the Nigeria Customs Service, Seme Area Command.
Accompanied by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Timi Bomodi, Adeniyi assessed the progress of the projects and received assurances of diligent oversight from the responsible authorities.
