A young man was reportedly set on fire by an angry mob in the Charanci area of Dorayi, Kano State, after he allegedly attacked a schoolgirl and snatched her bag on Saturday.
Eyewitnesses said the suspect confronted the student on her way to school and threatened her with a pair of scissors, stabbing her in the neck during the attack. The victim was left critically injured and is feared dead, though authorities are yet to confirm her condition.
Following the incident, residents of the area reportedly chased the suspect, apprehended him, and resorted to mob action, setting him ablaze before security operatives arrived.
Police authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the incident. Investigations are expected to commence as officials work to ascertain the facts surrounding the attack and the subsequent mob action.
