The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. W. Shuaibu, has arrived in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, for his first major official visit since his appointment.
This marks his maiden trip to the North East region, which serves as the main operational base of Operation Hadin Kai.
According to the Nigerian Army, the visit aims to assess ongoing military operations in the region and to address the troops on the ground.
Before his appointment as Chief of Army Staff in October by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Gen. Shuaibu had served in the North East as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 7 Division, and later as the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai.
During his stay in Maiduguri, he is also expected to pay courtesy visits to the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin Elkanemi, and the Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, as well as visit frontline operational bases.
