New Minimum Wage Bill Heading to NASS Soon- Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured the Organised Labour union that an executive bill regarding the new national minimum wage for workers will be promptly forwarded to the National Assembly for approval.

Tinubu revealed this on Wednesday June 12 during a nationwide address to mark Nigeria’s 25 years of uninterrupted democracy.

He said the forthcoming executive bill will serve to solidify the agreed-upon terms as a legal requirement for the next five years or potentially even less.

While emphasizing his administration’s resolve to nurture a democracy that would serve everyone Nigerian regardless of status the president expressed commitment to transparency and cooperation, stating that negotiations with Organised Labour have been conducted in good faith and with open arms.

Reflecting on the nation’s journey from the struggles of military rule to becoming Africa’s most populous democracy, Tinubu extolled the heroes of the democratic movement and emphasized the importance of sustaining democratic values.

The president noted that he is committed to protecting citizens’ rights and pushing forward with vital economic reforms.

While calling for unity and perseverance of Nigerian democracy, Tinubu underscores the ongoing efforts to secure a brighter, more democratic future for Nigeria.

He paid tribute to the individuals who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s democratic struggle, including MKO Abiola, Kudirat Abiola, General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, and others

Acknowledging the role of activists and Journalists, Tinubu hailed the contributions of pro-democracy activists, journalists, and media establishments in fighting against military dictatorship.

He vowed to protect the rights, freedoms, and liberties of Nigerian citizens and pledges to cement democracy as the nation’s way of life
