The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has extended the deadline for applications for its 2025/2026 academic session, granting prospective applicants additional time to complete and submit their requests for educational financing.
In a statement issued in Abuja on January 29, 2026, the Fund announced that the application deadline has been moved from January 31, 2026, to February 27, 2026.
The extension, NELFUND explained, is intended to ensure that all eligible Nigerian students have a fair opportunity to benefit from the loan scheme.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, said the decision reflects the Fund’s commitment to inclusivity and expanded access to higher education.
He noted that some applicants may require additional time to finalise their submissions, and the extension is designed to accommodate such challenges without excluding deserving students.
NELFUND urged prospective applicants who are yet to apply or who have incomplete applications to take advantage of the extended timeline and ensure that all required information is submitted on or before the new deadline of February 27, 2026.
