Near-Death Scene as Crowd Scoops Fuel from Overturned Tanker in Apapa

A fuel tanker carrying petroleum motor spirit (PMS) has overturned at the Tincan Liverpool Bridge in Apapa, Lagos, triggering a dangerous scene as residents rushed to scoop fuel from the wreckage.

A video shared by Channels Television on Monday morning captured dozens of Nigerians collecting the spilled fuel from beneath the bridge, despite the obvious risk of explosion.

“Happening now at Tincan Liverpool Bridge, Apapa: A tanker overturned, with people scooping its contents from underneath the bridge,” Channels TV reported.

The News Chronicle observed that tanker explosions remain a recurring and deadly menace across Nigeria, even as authorities continue to warn against the life-threatening practice of collecting spilled fuel.
