The Nigerian Army has dismissed at least one soldier over the alleged leakage of sensitive information, including video footage linked to a recent deadly improvised explosive device (IED) attack by Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State.

One of the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the action, saying, āDo you believe that our troops that stepped on IED two weeks ago, the soldier that recorded the video has been dismissed from the service.ā
The source further explained the militaryās position on internal disclosures, stating, āYou know the problem, if they find out that youāre leaking their secret, the next thing is to dismiss you.ā
A photograph obtained by The News Chronicle shows the dismissed soldier holding a placard. He was identified as Mansur Adamu, with service number 22NA/82/3795 PTE.
According to the source, investigations confirmed that the explosives were planted by Boko Haram fighters. Several soldiers sustained critical injuries, with deaths recorded after the initial blast.
