NDLEA Arrests 70-year-old Man in Borno for Drug Trafficking and Others in Various Operations 

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reported the arrest of a 70-year-old man, Adamu Mohammed, in Mbulamel, Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, for alleged drug trafficking.
According to a statement from NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, on Sunday May, 19 2024 NDLEA operatives intercepted drug consignments destined for China and the UK, hidden in steel bolts and shea butter, in Lagos. They also recovered 2,025 explosives in Niger, Kano, and Sokoto states.
Additionally, NDLEA officers foiled an attempt by Emeka Nwadiaro, also known as Mega, to export 3.6kg of Loud, a cannabis strain, concealed in 36 water flasks to Dubai, UAE. Nwadiaro was arrested in Onitsha, Anambra State, on the same day.
In another operation in Lagos, NDLEA agents intercepted a Mercedes Benz bus carrying 840kg of cannabis and arrested the driver, Samuel Henry, in Ojo Local Government Area.
“On Friday, Lawal Adam was arrested along Otukpo Road in Aliade, Benue State, with 75,000 opioid pills, including tramadol and exol-5.”
“On Thursday, Gaddafi Sani, 27, was arrested along Abuja-Kaduna Road in Kaduna State with 30 kilograms of cannabis, 2kg of cannabis, and 33.55 grams of diazepam.”
In Yobe State, a consignment of 91.1kg of opioids and 13kg of cannabis, bound for Maiduguri, Borno State, was discovered hidden in a petrol tanker on Potiskum-Damaturu Road. The driver, Ismaila Ali, was arrested.
Babafemi also reported the arrest of four suspects connected to the seizure of 2,025 pieces of improvised explosive devices (IED) materials in Niger State.
Abdulrauf Shitu Adeyemi, 46, and Asmiyu Rahim, 45, were arrested on the spot, while follow-up operations led to the arrests of Husaini Abdullahi, 25, in Sokoto main market, and Nazifi Abdullahi, 37, in Naibawa Motor Park, Kano.
NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), has directed that the four suspects and the explosive materials be handed over to the appropriate security agency for further investigation.
“In another operation, 42-year-old Muhammad Lawal was arrested at Central Market Motor Park in Katsina State with 1,000 ampoules of pentazocine injection.”
