NDLEA Arrests 132 Suspects, Seizes 220kg of Illicit Drugs in Two-Week Abuja Crackdown

—

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested 132 suspects and recovered over 220 kilograms of assorted illicit drugs following a sustained two-week operation across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The coordinated offensive, carried out between April 11 and 25, 2026, targeted major drug hotspots identified through weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance. The operation was jointly executed by the Agency’s Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command.

According to the agency on Friday, several notorious drug joints and bunks were dismantled in areas including Torabora Hills, Area 3, Gwarinpa, AYA, Durumi, Banex, Dei-Dei, Kubwa, Apo, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Wuse Zone 4, Garki Area 10, Jabi, and the Suleja axis.

Items recovered during the raids include 214.79 kilograms of skunk (a strain of cannabis), 5.524 kilograms of Diazepam, 2.352 kilograms of Exol, 1.119 kilograms of Tramadol, as well as smaller quantities of cocaine, Rohypnol, methamphetamine, ecstasy, Mogadon, and bottles of codeine syrup.

The agency noted that operatives encountered resistance in parts of Durumi Area 1 and the Suleja market axis. However, the officers successfully subdued the suspects and disrupted their networks without recording any casualties.

Briefing NDLEA Chairman, Mohamed Buba Marwa, the Director of Operations and General Investigation, Ahmed Sule Ningi, praised the professionalism and coordination of the personnel involved. He stressed the importance of maintaining pressure on drug networks.

In response, Marwa commended the officers for their efforts in sanitizing the capital city and directed that similar operations be replicated in other high-risk urban centres across the country to curb drug trafficking and abuse nationwide.
