Nancy Isime Logs Off Social Media; Moyo Lawal Addresses Leaked Video

Nollywood actress and media personality Nancy Isime has announced that she is taking a break from social media, saying the decision is driven by a desire to focus on her personal happiness and peace.

The 34-year-old actress made the announcement on Thursday, January 1, 2026, through a post on her Instagram page, where she also wished her followers a Happy New Year. Isime revealed that she is currently in Mauritius and plans to stay off social media for an indefinite period.

In her message, she expressed optimism about the new year and thanked her fans for their continued support over the years.

“Happy New Year. It’s 2026 already here in Mauritius. 2026 will be the year of our dreams,” she wrote.
Isime explained that the break would allow her to step away from online activity and concentrate on her emotional well-being.

“Time to log off social media till further notice, as usual. Let me focus on my happiness and peace,” she added.

The actress assured fans that her absence would not be permanent, noting that she would return and reconnect when the time feels right.
“See you when I see y’all,” she wrote, ending the message with an expression of appreciation for her supporters.

Nancy Isime, known for her work as an actress, television host, and entrepreneur, has previously spoken openly about personal growth and self-care. No further details were given about the duration of the break or any impact on her professional engagements.

Meanwhile, Nollywood actress Moyo Lawal has spoken publicly about the private video involving her that circulated online in 2023, saying the footage was leaked without her consent and that an ex-partner was responsible.

In a video message shared on her social media pages, the 38-year-old actress said her former partner blamed her for the leak, accusing her of causing it because she did not post him on her social media accounts. Lawal said she had never made a habit of posting romantic partners online.

“There is a narrative that I posted this intimate part of my life. I refuse to allow this narrative to stick with me forever,” she said.

Lawal explained that she had overlooked warning signs in the relationship because of her easygoing personality, but that the incident forced her to reassess her choices. According to her, the former partner told her that if he could not have her, nobody else would want her.

“You never really know somebody until you threaten to leave them,” she said.
The actress rejected suggestions that she deliberately released the video and stressed that the shame often attached to leaked intimate content should not be placed on victims.

“This shame is not theirs to carry, nor is it their fault,” she said, adding that several women had contacted her privately after experiencing similar situations, some of whom said they were being threatened.

Lawal said the episode marked a turning point in her life. She announced that she was choosing a new personal direction focused on discipline, reflection, and growth, describing it as “flipping the switch” and beginning a new chapter.
“I have decided to live a virtuous life. The worst has already happened to me,” she said.

Since the incident, Lawal has remained active in the film industry and on social media, while also calling for greater empathy and professionalism in discussions around leaked private content. She has urged the public to avoid spreading such material and to consider the emotional impact on those affected.
Lawal’s experience is similar to several public figures in Nigeria and abroad. Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage previously disclosed being targeted with private material and said she refused to be blackmailed.

Internationally, actresses such as Jennifer Lawrence have spoken about the emotional toll of private images being shared without consent following hacking incidents.
Legal and digital rights advocates have repeatedly warned that sharing intimate content without permission constitutes a serious violation of privacy and, in many cases, a criminal offence.

For Lawal, the focus now is on moving forward.
“I am looking forward to an entirely new character and adventure,” she said, asking her audience to judge her “not too harshly” as she continues her career and personal life.
