The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) warns Nigerians about a big problem.
Some bad people are making fake medicine called Paracetamol Injection. This fake medicine is not safe to use.
The fake medicine is labeled as “Paracetamol Injection 300mg/2ml I.M I.V Aminoglycoside Antibacterial.” But when tested in a lab, it was found out that it only contains paracetamol.
Aminoglycoside Antibacterial is an important type of antibiotic that helps to fight bad bacteria when you are sick. But the fake medicine doesn’t have this antibiotic. This is very dangerous because people might use it when they really need the antibiotic.
The real Paracetamol Injection 300mg/2ml I.M I.V is made by a company in China called Shandong Shenglu Pharm. Co. Ltd. It is brought to Nigeria by Sifam Life Care Pharmaceutical Ltd in Kano. This medicine is registered with NAFDAC and is used to reduce pain and fever.
It does not have any antibiotic in it. Sifam Life Care Pharmaceutical Ltd, the company that brings the real medicine to Nigeria, has confirmed that the fake medicine is not the same as the real one.
NAFDAC is taking quick action to stop the fake medicine from being sold. They have told their officers in different parts of Nigeria to look for the fake medicine and take it away.
They also want people who bring in, sell, or use medicine to be very careful and watch out for fake ones.
NAFDAC also wants people to tell them if they think a medicine is not good or if they have any bad reactions after using medicine.
They have ways for people to report these things on their website or through an app called Med-safety.
This is all to make sure that people in Nigeria are safe and the medicine they use is real and good for them.
