NACOE organizes matriculation for degree and NCE students for 2023/2024 academic session

The Nigerian Army College of Education (NACOE) held its matriculation ceremony for the 2023/2024 Academic Session at Sobi Cantonment in Ilorin on Tuesday, March 19, 2024

This ceremony welcomed new students who are starting their journey toward earning degrees and Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE).

The Provost of NACOE, Maj Gen Umar Nasir Babangida, spoke during the event. He mentioned the significant transformation NACOE has undergone since its inception as an offshoot of the now-defunct Nigerian Army School of Education, which was established in 1970.

Maj Gen Babangida highlighted that NACOE currently offers 10 degree programs in affiliation with Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

Additionally, the college provides 19 course combinations for the NCE program. These programs are fully accredited by the National Universities Commission and the National Commission for Colleges of Education respectively.

The Provost expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, for his support and funding of the college.

He also thanked the Vice Chancellor of TASUED, Professor Oluwole Sikiru Banjo, for his guidance and efforts in capacity building, which have contributed to NACOE’s progress.

Maj Gen Babangida encouraged the new students to stay focused as the matriculation ceremony marks the beginning of their academic journey.

He emphasized the importance of self-discovery, academic growth, and making positive contributions to society.

Several dignitaries attended the ceremony, including the Commandant of the Nigerian Army Institute of Science Education and Technology, represented by the Director of Coordination, as well as the Vice Chancellor of TASUED, represented by the Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance.

Other guests included the Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education in Kwara State, represented by another official.
