CAN President and others visit Plateau IDPs, donate relief materials

Reverend Daniel Okoh, who is the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), recently went to visit people who had to leave their homes and are now living in a place called Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Plateau.

He went there with other CAN leaders and gave them things they need to help them feel better.

When he was at the IDP camp in Bokkos on Tuesday, Okoh prayed for the people there. He said they came to show they care about what happened in Plateau, where many bad things happened, like destroying things and killing people.

Okoh said they saw how everything got messed up when they were traveling around the state. He prayed for the bad things to stop happening and for the people to be safe.

Even though they don’t know who did the bad things, Okoh said they hope one day they will find out. He said they are there to support the people and pray with them.

“The perpetrators are said to be unknown, but we always pray that one day God will unravel these people and we shall know them.

“But we pray that this kind of thing will not continue. However, we are here to pray with you and stand in solidarity with you”.

Okoh also asked the government to help the IDPs go back to their homes.

Mr. Monday Kassah, who is the Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Area, said he felt good about CAN visiting.

“We want to thank you and all Nigerians, because when it happened, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was here.

“All the security chiefs and many other Nigerians identified with us, and that has strengthened and given us hope.

“We are encouraged, and we have hope that we will bounce back stronger than we used to be”.

He thanked everyone for supporting them when bad things happened. He said they are working with the government to help the IDPs go back home.
