In a renewed effort to end the Mondays’ Sit-at-Home initiated in the Southeastern region of Nigeria, the Anambra state command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC on Monday, announced the deployment of its personnel to protect banking facilities in Awka, the state capital.

The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Olatunde Maku made the disclosure today when he embarked on a confidence-building patrol within the Awka metropolis, during which he visited some strategic areas, routes, and banks along Regina Ceili Junction,  Aroma Junction, Ziks Avenue, and Ukwu-oji axis.

During the visits, he also interfaced with members of the public, urging them to cooperate with NSCDC and other security agencies in their efforts to suppress the antics and criminal acts of men of the underworld.

The State NSCDC Command helmsman said the NSCDC working with other security agencies, remains undaunted in ensuring the security and safety of  Anambra residents.

“Protection of lives and property is topmost on the agenda of the State Government, hence the deployment of personnel around all critical assets today to build the confidence of the public that Mondays Sit at home has faded away.

“People can go about their normal businesses.

“We have deployed enough manpower to avert any attack on lawful citizens,” he said.

Maku encouraged the public to always be willing to volunteer useful information that will aid the security agencies to effectively maintain peace in the state and ensure the protection of lives and property in the state.

The State Commandant was joined in the patrol by DCP Alada Yakubu, the Deputy Commandant in charge of Operations; DCC Kazzah Joseph, HOD Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Protection Department; Assistant Commandant Onyebuchi Onwuteaka, AC Ops Zone K, Awka among others.
