Mohamed Salah surpasses Thierry Henry’s Premier League player record  in European tournament

Liverpool’s sensational forward Mohamed Salah surpassed former Arsenal forward Thierry Henry as the Premier League player with the most goals in the European tournament.

Salah reached this feat last night after scoring his 43rd European goal since joining Liverpool in 2017, edging Thierry Henry’s record of 42 goals.

The Egyptian forward scored Liverpool’s last goal last night during their 5-1 dominance over Toulouse in their third group game of the UEFA Europa League. The English outfit’s qualifications for the next round are secured following their three wins in three.

Jürgen Klopp speaking in a post-match conference:

“Very, very good  performance [and] especially a lot of really good individual performances, which is nice because it is important for development. Besides the goal we conceded and the chance we gave them when Trent had his spectacular save, around that everything [was] what we expected. Toulouse are a good team, they are playing football, [but] we put a proper shift in and that’s what I wanted. Then the goals we scored were wonderful. I would say the right players scored the goals, all of them were really, really good. So, nothing to complain [about] really.”

It is a 17-year-old record kept by Thierry Henry since he last scored against FC Porto in 2006.
