Minister kicks off building of 618-shop modern market in FCT

The minister emphasized how important it is to have good places to buy and sell things in rural areas. She said these places are like a lifeline for many communities.

The minister, Mahmoud, talked about a new market being built in Zuba. She said a company called Khuntex Engineering Company Ltd. will build it with the help of the government. This is called a Public Private Partnership (PPP).

Under this plan, the government will give the land, and Khuntex will pay for the market to be built.

The project will happen in two parts, each taking 10 months. The minister believes this will help the economy and make sure everyone feels included.

She also thinks the new market will create jobs, help people make more money, and teach young people new skills.

The minister believes this project shows how committed the government is to helping people in the area, which is part of President Bola Tinubu’s plan.

She mentioned that often, rural areas don’t have good places to buy and sell things, which makes life harder for people living there. But she believes working with private companies can help solve this problem.

“By leveraging the strengths of both sectors, we can create sustainable marketplaces that cater for the diverse needs of rural populations,”

She said markets are important because they let farmers and craftsmen sell what they make, which helps everyone in the community.

The minister thinks the new market will have modern facilities to help farmers sell their products more easily.

It will also help rural entrepreneurs get more customers and better prices for what they sell.

The chairman of the local government, Abubakar Giri, thinks the new market will bring in more money for the government. He also wants to fix other markets in the area that have been abandoned.

The person in charge of the company building the market, Dayo Jigan, promised to finish the first part of the project in 10 months.

He said the first part will have 250 shops and other useful things like restaurants, banks, and a police station.
