Military To Prioritize Farmer Protection During Rainy Season

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced an adjustment in its operations to prioritize the protection of farmers during the rainy season. 

Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

“Our operational adjustments have been made to prioritize protection for farmers to ensure a successful rainy season farming,” said Maj.-Gen. Buba.

In the past week, troops have neutralized 220 terrorists, arrested 395 others, and rescued 202 hostages.

The operations also led to the arrest of 55 suspected oil thieves and the recovery of stolen products valued at N1,860,151,700.00.

Additionally, the troops recovered a significant cache of weapons and ammunition, including 432 assorted weapons and 9,004 assorted rounds of ammunition.

Other items seized by the troops include three Baofeng radios, eight vehicles, 32 motorcycles, 59 mobile phones, and N813,550.00 in cash.

In the Niger Delta region, troops uncovered and destroyed 51 dugout pits, 38 boats, and 51 storage tanks.

The operations led to the recovery of 1,099,860 liters of stolen crude oil, 1,101,700 liters of illegally refined AGO, 27,350 liters of DPK, and 150 liters of PMS.

Maj.-Gen. Buba assured that the troops will continue to employ significant firepower to neutralize terrorists and disrupt their activities across the country. “Winning the war against the terrorists is non-negotiable,” he affirmed.
