Marwa Hails Rescue of 20 Kidnapped Corps Members, Commends Security Agencies

—

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), has commended the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies for the successful rescue of 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members abducted in the South-East.
Marwa also praised the security forces for rescuing another person abducted alongside the corps members, describing the operation as a significant victory for the country and a demonstration of the effectiveness of coordinated, intelligence-driven security operations.
In a statement issued by the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, on Thursday, Marwa said the safe return of the victims to their families reflected the courage, professionalism and unity of purpose among Nigeria’s security agencies.
He described corps members as among the nation’s best young Nigerians, serving their fatherland with hope and idealism, and said the country owed them protection.
“As a retired military officer serving under the renewed hope administration of President Bola Tinubu, it is imperative for us to draw public attention to this kind of achievement by our security agencies and equally commend them,” Marwa stated.
The NDLEA boss also acknowledged several successful rescue operations conducted by security agencies across the country in recent months, saying such efforts had freed abducted victims and restored hope to affected families.
He said every life rescued represented a victory in the collective fight against insecurity, stressing that criminal elements could not outrun a determined and coordinated security architecture.
Marwa further pledged the NDLEA’s continued cooperation with sister security agencies, noting that drug trafficking and abuse often contribute to violent crimes, kidnapping and banditry.
He said the agency would continue to strengthen intelligence-sharing and joint operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks that fund and fuel insecurity.
The NDLEA chairman urged security agencies to sustain the momentum and called on Nigerians to support security forces by providing timely and credible information.
He also wished the rescued corps members a speedy recovery and a safe reunion with their families.
