Man Installs Free WiFi to Boost Home Security, Gets Surprise Crowd at 2:30am

A man who built a large house in his neighbourhood and employed a security guard has devised an unusual strategy to strengthen security around his residence amid worsening insecurity in the country.

According to a story obtained by The News Chronicle on Thursday, the man installed Wi-Fi at his home and placed a notice at the entrance advertising:

“FREE Wi-Fi. Browse for free 24 hours.”

A man’s free Wi-Fi security strategy attracts a crowd outside his home at 2:30 am.

He also displayed the Wi-Fi password prominently on a sign outside the house.

The strategy, however, produced an unexpected result.

Rather than reducing security concerns, the area around his residence reportedly became crowded with people arriving to take advantage of the free internet service, including during the early hours of the morning.

By about 2:30 a.m., the area around the house was said to have attracted several people browsing on their phones.

The unusual approach has since generated reactions, with the incident highlighting the creative and sometimes humorous ways people attempt to address security concerns in an increasingly challenging environment.
