Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has submitted his governorship nomination and expression of interest forms at the national secretariat of the African Democratic Congress in Abuja, formally declaring his intention to contest the Kebbi governorship election.
In a statement issued on Thursday evening, Malami’s office said the submission was carried out in line with the party’s guidelines, describing the move as a significant step in his political ambition.
The statement noted that the development had sparked excitement among supporters in Kebbi State, who described Malami’s candidacy as the beginning of a political “rescue mission” for the state.
According to the statement, the former Attorney General is banking on his experience in national governance to reposition Kebbi, with plans to prioritise security, agriculture, infrastructure, education, and healthcare if elected.
Malami’s office also described the ADC as an emerging political platform built on accountability, inclusion, and development.
The statement criticised the current condition in Kebbi, citing concerns over insecurity, economic hardship, deteriorating public schools, and poor healthcare delivery.
It added that Malami had begun consultations across local government areas in the state ahead of the election.
“The people of Kebbi are no longer waiting for relief that never comes; the rescue has officially begun,” the statement said.
