With summer window now in top gear, European heavyweights are vying with each other to bring players into their fold. Top of the wishlist is one player who continues to be, the Liverpool sensation Luis Diaz.
While giant guns Bayern Munich and Barcelona are also targeting the player, the Reds refuse to budge: Diaz is not for sale.
The news in the latest developments indicated Bayern Munich formally made an approach to the Colombian winger but Liverpool’s board just said no, absolutely. Bayern sports director Max Eberl was informed directly, face-to-face, that the 28-year-old striker cannot be sold under any conditions, and the negotiations have not gone an inch further.
It is not the first time Liverpool have spurned interest in Diaz. Barcelona approached a few weeks ago and were given short shrift in reply. Even Saudi giants Al Nassr are said to have attempted to have a go, but Liverpool’s position has been plain for a while now.
Merseyside club Liverpool views Luis Diaz as the missing puzzle piece that they have been missing. The club players view him as the key to Liverpool’s game plans, particularly as they begin a new era after Jurgen Klopp. On the pitch, he is shattering—Diaz guided Liverpool to Premier League triumph last season with 13 goals and five assists across all competitions.
Since completing his signing for Anfield from FC Porto in his January 2022 transfer for a maximum of £49 million, Diaz has left his mark through his end product, flair, and uncertainty. He has netted 41 goals in 148 games and already has a Premier League, an FA Cup, and two League Cups to his name at Anfield.
With the extra spotlight, Diaz himself has not been idle. Speaking while abroad about talk with Colombia, he was pleased with life at Liverpool and insisted that he was over the moon about the welcome he had received. Having made it clear that there were indeed still working talks in the transfer market, he went on to insist that he would be well happy to remain at Liverpool if there is not any good deal done.
With two years left on his contract, Diaz’s future will be close to Liverpool—at least in the meantime. With the transfer window still open, this is one thing that’s for sure: Liverpool would not be keen to lose one of their best attacking stars.
