LASG Tasks Facility Management Contractors On Quality Control, Assurance

The Lagos State Government has tasked facility management contractors handling the State’s health facilities to ensure that they give adequate consideration to quality control and quality assurance in delivering their services.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. (Dr.) Adekunle Olayinka counselled during an interactive session with the management of Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency (LASIAMA) and contractors engaged in managing health facilities and other government buildings in the State.

Speaking at the Conference Room of the Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, the Special Adviser explained that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is committed to delivering dividends of democracy and his administration would not relent in its efforts to ensure that projects were delivered according to the scope of work agreed upon.

He said that facility management has become an increasingly visible aspect of health system management strategies under the current administration as a means of improving health care as well as atmospheres in the various health facilities across the state, adding that the jobs outsourced to the facility management companies have far-reaching effects on the people and the quality of service they render affects the government.

Engr. Olayinka stated that the meeting was convened because of the need to get direct feedback from the contractors, adding that the Ministry intends to be very strict in terms of ensuring quality service delivery. “I want us to begin to look at all issues that affect our service delivery such that we don’t have emergencies that we cannot handle. This meeting is very important for me to get to know you, and get direct feedback from you so that I can also take it to Mr. Governor so that at least all of us will be on the same page.”

He appealed to the contractors to be consistent with the quality of the job, cautioning against doing anything that would bring disrepute to the government. While stressing that service to the state should be their watchword, Olayinka noted that the jobs were given to them based on their competence and track record, just as he charged the contractors to work to protect the integrity of their firms.

The Ag. General Manager of LASIAMA, Adekunle Adesanya commended the Special Adviser for his leadership while expressing the conviction that the meeting would propel better understanding and harmonious working relationship that will deliver excellent service to the good people of Lagos.

The interactive session allowed the contractors to point out challenges encountered on the job while the Special Adviser promised to look at the challenges and chart a way forward.

The meeting, which was held in two batches, had the first set of contractors outsourced for facility management and the second with firms engaged for the renovation of government buildings.
