LASEPA Shuts 10 Lagos Hotels, Bars, Restaurants Over Environmental Violations

—

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed 10 establishments across the state over persistent breaches of environmental regulations, as the state government intensifies its crackdown on offenders.

The enforcement exercise, carried out on Wednesday, was announced by the agency on Thursday via its official X handle. LASEPA said the action was in line with the Lagos State Government’s directive to ensure strict compliance with environmental laws.

Among the affected establishments is Grandeur Meridian, located on Obasa Akiniyi Street, Oluwaga, Ipaja, which was shut for failing to comply with the agency’s directives.

Lasola (Spazio Bar) on Ipaja Road, Fatolu Bus Stop, Ipaja, was sealed for noise pollution and repeated non-compliance with regulatory directives.

The agency also shut Millennium Restaurant at Gate Bus Stop, Ayobo, Ipaja, and O2 Exquisite Suites & Tower on Jimoh Akinremi Street, Akowonjo, over failure to comply with environmental directives.

Similarly, Chirozz Hotel & Suites, located on Samuel Street near the Vulcanizer Bus Stop in Akowonjo, Egbeda, was sealed for noise pollution and non-compliance with LASEPA regulations.

Other facilities affected include House 7 Hotel on Remi Akande Street, Egbeda, and House 48 on Isiba Oluwo Street, Egbeda, both closed for disregarding the agency’s directives.

Also sealed were Exclusive Hotel at Akesan Bus Stop and City Int’l Motel on Chief Olu-Adegbite Street, off Oladun Street, Council Bus Stop, Idimu, for failing to comply with environmental regulations.

In a separate enforcement action, LASEPA shut down Sabola Ventures Ltd., located at Km 11, LASU-Isheri Road, Igando, for allegedly operating without an effluent treatment plant and discharging untreated industrial waste into public drainage systems.

Reacting to the exercise, the General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to safeguarding public health and protecting the environment.

“Compliance with environmental regulations is a collective responsibility,” Ajayi said.

He warned that the agency would intensify enforcement against individuals and businesses that violate environmental laws, urging residents and business owners to adopt environmentally responsible practices, comply with regulatory standards, and work with the government to build a cleaner, more sustainable Lagos.
