Lagos State Government has urged public servants to maintain good hygiene to avoid contracting cholera or other water and airborne diseases.

The Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola gave the advice today at the monthly walk for fitness exercise organised for public servants in the state.
According to Oyegbola, the State government is working assiduously on how to ensure a safe environment for residents, adding that the present administration is committed to the well-being of the public servants and Lagosians across the State.
She urged the public servants to always take the constant practice of walking for safer health as a responsibility based on the belief that health is wealth.
Also, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health Management Agency, Dr. (Mrs.) Emmanuella Zamba called for improved hygiene at schools, offices and homes
Zamba said it was important for people to seek medical attention in recognised hospitals as soon a person had the symptoms of the disease, such as fever, vomiting, rapid dehydration, muscle cramps and sometimes collapse.
She said the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency and the Ministry of Agriculture, is determined to bolster community sanitation efforts and curb the outbreak.
On the fitness exercise, Zamba said the walk was to create awareness of the need for regular exercise, stressing that walking was a way of changing lives and encouraging a healthy lifestyle.
