The Kwara State governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has once again stated that his government is very committed to taking care of the people in the state.
He said they are focused on giving cash rewards to workers and providing help to ease the effects of inflation, which makes things more expensive.
Mrs. Bola Olukoju, who is the Commissioner for Communications, mentioned in a statement that the government led by AbdulRazaq has been and will continue to support the people as inflation makes it harder for everyone to buy things.
She said, “Apart from the regular wages, the government now spends almost N1 billion extra every month to give cash rewards to different workers and retirees in the state. This is in addition to paying health workers more, which has increased the government’s monthly spending by 54.01% just in the health sector.”
The government has also started giving out rice worth N2 billion to people through religious leaders (both Muslims and Christians), community groups, and others.
They are also working on different agricultural projects to make sure there is enough food for everyone.
The statement continued, “The government will keep supporting the people, especially during this time. We have more plans in the works, including providing more food support.”
” It’s true that the government is getting more money after removing subsidies. But our spending on wages and other commitments has also increased. We spend almost N1 billion on wage rewards alone every month.”
“And that’s not counting other things like paying health workers more. Our spending has gone up, and we have more plans coming, even at the federal level. We understand the impact of inflation, which also makes it more expensive to provide public services. But together, we will overcome this.”
In addition, during a meeting with his cabinet on Friday, the governor approved increasing the budgets for some road projects across the state because of inflation.
These projects include roads in Banni township, Ora township, Saint Claire’s Junction-Ikotun Road, Secretariat Road-New Market Road Lafiagi, and Igbaja Town Hall Road.
The acting Commissioner for Works and Transport, Abdulqowiy Olododo, asked for and got approval to increase the budgets for these road projects, which had been delayed because of inflation. He said these increases will help finish the projects faster for the benefit of the people.
