Kwankwaso Denies Plot to Protest Insecurity, Urges Nigerians to Ignore “Fake” Social Media Message

Former Kano State Governor and NDC Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has disowned a viral social media message falsely claiming he and his party are planning a protest over rising insecurity in Nigeria.

In a press statement issued on Monday, Kwankwaso said his attention had been drawn to the message circulating online and described it as false.

He stressed that neither he nor the New Democratic Congress, NDC, supports any action that could lead to a breakdown of public order or destruction of lives and property.

“As responsible leaders, we remain committed to peaceful and constructive approaches in addressing national challenges,” Kwankwaso stated.

The former governor, who is also the NDC Vice Presidential Candidate, reaffirmed his belief in democratic processes. “As committed democrats, we firmly believe that the ballot box remains the most legitimate and effective way to express grievances and seek change. Our party, the NDC, is confident of securing a resounding victory in the upcoming elections through peaceful democratic means,” he said.

Kwankwaso urged the general public to disregard the false message and ignore those peddling what he called disinformation.

The clarification comes amid heightened public concern over insecurity across the country, with several groups and political actors demanding government action.
