Kwankwaso Confirms Written Agreement With Obi on One-Term Presidency Pledge

The Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Coalition, NDC, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has confirmed that he and the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, signed a written agreement regarding Obi’s promise to serve for only one term if elected President of Nigeria.
Speaking during Politics Today on Channels TV with Seun Okinbaloye, Kwankwaso said the decision was made in good faith and documented to ensure clarity between both parties and the party.

“We are all gentlemen, even though we have agreed to put it even on paper. We have done one for the party, and we have done another one between the two of us,” Kwankwaso stated.

The confirmation comes amid public discussions around Obi’s pledge to serve a single four-year term if elected.
According to Kwankwaso, the agreement reflects their commitment to transparency and to giving Nigerians certainty about the leadership arrangement under the NDC ticket.
The NDC has positioned the one-term pledge as part of its broader promise of purposeful and time-bound governance ahead of the next general elections.
