The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA), through its Rapid Response Team (RRT), has facilitated specialist orthopaedic treatment for three vulnerable patients at Sir Muhammad Sunusi Specialist Hospital in Kano.
The agency disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Public Relations Officer, Aminu Turaki.
According to the statement, the intervention was carried out on the directive of the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr Rahila Muktar, as part of the agency’s commitment to ensuring that vulnerable residents have access to quality healthcare services regardless of their financial circumstances.
One of the beneficiaries, Yusuf Isah, who sustained severe leg injuries in a road traffic accident, underwent a life-saving leg amputation after specialist evaluation determined that the procedure was necessary to prevent further complications.
The statement said Isah is currently recovering under close medical supervision.
Another patient, Khalid Auwalu, successfully underwent a complex orthopaedic reconstructive surgery and is also recuperating under the care of specialist medical personnel.
The third beneficiary, Abubakar Adamu, has been admitted to the hospital following clinical assessments and diagnostic investigations and has been scheduled for specialist orthopaedic surgery.
Commenting on the intervention, Muktar reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to providing emergency medical response, referral coordination and follow-up care for patients requiring specialised treatment.
She said the initiative aligns with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s Kano First Agenda, which prioritises accessible, equitable and people-centred healthcare delivery across the state.
The executive secretary also commended the Zonal Medical Director of Sir Muhammad Sunusi Specialist Hospital, Dr Usman Aliyu, for his support to the KSCHMA Rapid Response Team and his commitment to strengthening emergency referral services in Kano State.
She assured that the agency would continue to monitor the patients’ progress to ensure successful treatment outcomes and full recovery.
