APC Accuses Makinde of Neglecting Health, Education Despite Federal Allocations

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has criticised the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde over what it described as the deteriorating condition of key sectors of the state’s economy, particularly health and education.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the APC urged the governor to take immediate action to address the challenges facing residents.

The opposition party alleged that despite receiving significant federal allocations and intervention funds, the Makinde administration has failed to deliver meaningful improvements in critical sectors, including healthcare and education.

According to the APC, its reaction was prompted by a viral video circulating on social media in which an unidentified man lamented the absence of doctors and other medical personnel to attend to a patient at Adeoyo State Hospital, Yemetu, Ibadan.

Sadare said the incident had renewed public concern over the quality of healthcare delivery in the state.

The party further alleged that, aside from the regular payment of salaries and pensions and the execution of a few infrastructure projects, the administration has made little impact on the welfare of the people.

On the health sector, the APC claimed that the government’s notable achievements were limited to the payment of workers’ salaries and the rehabilitation of some Primary Health Centres.

The party also criticised the state of public education, alleging that many primary and secondary schools are in poor condition, with dilapidated classrooms and inadequate learning facilities.

“We are concerned about the likelihood of things getting worse before the expiration of Gov. Makinde’s maximum tenure,” Sadare said.

The APC called on the governor to place governance above politics and prioritise improvements in healthcare, education and other essential sectors.

It maintained that the people of Oyo State deserve prudent management of public resources and more effective service delivery across the state.
