Kogi State Varsity Lecturer Returns N5.85M Mistakenly Transferred to His Account

Lecturer Dr. Peter Nelson from Kogi State University has garnered widespread admiration from Nigerians due to his commendable display of honesty and integrity. 

In a notable incident, he promptly returned the substantial sum of five million, eight hundred and fifty thousand naira, which had been mistakenly transferred to his account by Alhassan Abdullahi.

This noteworthy act not only showcases Dr. Nelson’s commitment to ethical conduct but also highlights the value he places on integrity, earning him respect and recognition from the local community.

His principled response to the inadvertent financial transaction serves as an inspiring example of upholding moral values in the face of challenging situations, reinforcing the importance of integrity in academic and societal settings.

Upon discovering the transactional error, Dr. Nelson promptly contacted his bank to verify the source of the unexpected funds.

Upon confirming the mistake, he took the commendable step of writing to his bank manager, providing consent for the reversal of the money to its rightful sender.

In his communication, Dr. Nelson expressed, “I have refunded the sum of 5.850 million that was mistakenly sent to me by Alhassan Abdullahi Emma Venture in Mubi, Adamawa state through my UBA account after contacting my bank and the details of the transaction were revealed to me.”

He went on to share a valuable lesson he learned from the experience, stating, “I grow to understand that no matter how easy things may look, I shouldn’t take what doesn’t belong to me.”

This act of integrity by Dr. Nelson has not gone unnoticed by Nigerians, who have taken turns praising this exemplary gesture.
