The Kogi State High Court will commence its 2026 annual vacation on July 20, with normal court sittings scheduled to resume on September 21.
The announcement was contained in an order issued on Tuesday in Lokoja by the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Josiah Majebi, pursuant to Order 10 Rule 4(2) of the Kogi High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2025.
As part of the vacation arrangements, Justice Hawa Yusuf has been appointed the Vacation Judge and will sit in Lokoja throughout the period.
According to the order, Justice Yusuf will handle criminal matters and urgent civil motions from across the state, subject to the leave of the court.
Justice Majebi said only urgent matters would be entertained during the annual break, which ends on September 18.
He, however, assured litigants and members of the public that other services provided by the High Court would continue uninterrupted throughout the vacation.
The Chief Judge also stated that all lower courts across Kogi State would remain in session and continue to provide adjudicatory and other judicial services during the vacation period.
