King Charles Sends Message to Trump on America’s 250th Independence Anniversary

Britain’s King Charles III has congratulated President Donald Trump and the American people on the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence, praising the enduring partnership between the two countries despite their turbulent history.

In a message released on Saturday, the monarch described the occasion as “a truly historic milestone” and a moment of celebration for Americans across the country.

“This year marks a truly historic milestone and a moment of great celebration for Americans everywhere,” Charles said.

He noted that the anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect on the United States’ remarkable journey over the past 250 years and to celebrate its achievements since declaring independence in 1776.

The United States marked 250 years since the 13 American colonies declared independence from Britain, a move that sparked the Revolutionary War. Britain formally recognised U.S. independence in 1783, paving the way for what would later become the longstanding “special relationship” between the two nations.

Charles described the relationship as one of “extraordinary evolution”, saying the two countries had moved from conflict to building one of the world’s closest and most productive alliances.

“Together, we face the challenges of today and the opportunities of tomorrow,” he said, expressing confidence that Britain and the United States would continue to uphold their shared values for generations to come.

The King also highlighted environmental protection as a shared responsibility, pointing to the preservation of nature as an issue that has long been central to his public work.

In April, King Charles and Queen Camilla paid a multi-day state visit to the United States, where they were welcomed by President Trump at the White House.

The visit took place amid diplomatic tensions between the two allies over issues including the conflict involving Iran. Despite the challenges, Trump later praised the British monarch, describing him in glowing terms.
