Former Minister of Communication and Digital Economy Prof. Isa Pantami has on Monday 4th December 2023 expressed sadness over the Nigerian Army drone that accidentally killed dozens of Maulud celebrants in Dutun Biri, village Igabi LGA of Kaduna State.
While condoling with the families of those who lost their lives in the horrible explosion, Pantami condemned the act calling on the Tinubu led administration to do the needful and bring those behind the killing to justice.
He said that the killing of over 150 lives was more than a mistake adding that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice.
“Around 150 innocent civilians, including women, children, & others, were bombed to death by our own army of the Federal Government in Kaduna today. Our heartfelt condolences to their families. Those behind it are to be brought to justice, as injustice anywhere is a threat to justice”. Pantami stressed.
Recall that many villagers were feared dead following a bomb allegedly dropped by men of the Nigerian Armed Forces on Sunday 3rd of December 2023 killing over a hundred persons with several others severely injured.
Earlier, a statement by Samuel Aruwan, the Overseeing Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs of Kaduna state following a meeting chaired by the deputy governor, Hadiza Balarabe, attended by heads of security agencies, religious and traditional leaders, revealed that the Nigerian Army explained the circumstances which led to what it called “unfortunate and unintended”.
While calling for calm, the Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has ordered an immediate investigation into the tragic incident.
“I appeal to the affected community, and all citizens to keep calm and continue to support the security forces and the state government in our battle against terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements in Kaduna State. I am in consultation with the security forces to ensure that such mistakes are avoided in future operations”. The governor added.
