Katsina State Government Orders Immediate Vacation of Illegally Allocated Forestland

—

The Katsina State Government has mandated the immediate vacation of forestland that was illegally allocated.
This directive comes from Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, who acted on the advice of an investigative committee tasked with examining the issue.
Governor Radda has taken firm steps to address the widespread problem of sensitive and strategic forest areas being distributed as farmlands.
This decision is part of a broader effort to preserve these critical natural resources and ensure that they are not exploited for private gain.
The details of this development were shared in a press release issued by Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua, the Director of Press for the Office of the Secretary to the Katsina State Government, on Friday 31, May 2024.
According to the statement, individuals currently occupying these illegally allocated lands are required to vacate immediately.
“This action is intended to prevent any further complications and to facilitate a smooth transition back to state control.”
The statement also emphasized that Governor Radda is the sole authority who can approve the allocation of government forest lands and urban areas within Katsina State.
“Any allocations made without his explicit approval are considered invalid and illegal.”
“To ensure that these measures are effectively implemented, a new committee has been established.”
This committee will oversee the enforcement of the recommendations made by the investigative team and ensure that the reclaimed lands are protected from further illegal allocations.
The Katsina State Government has urged all residents to adhere to this directive and to avoid any unauthorized land acquisitions.
