Police Nab Car Thief, Recover Anti-Tracker Device in Kaduna

The Nigerian police in Kaduna state nabbed a suspected international car thief.
According to ASP Mansir Hassan, the command’s spokesperson, the breakthrough came on May 27 following a tip-off from a concerned citizen.
This individual reported being asked to assist in retrieving a Lexus LX470 SUV from a mechanic. However, upon closer inspection, they grew suspicious and promptly alerted the authorities.
Upon receiving the report, the police swiftly acted, recovering the vehicle and bringing it to the S/Gari police station for further investigation.
A search of the vehicle yielded crucial information documents belonging to the rightful owner, along with contact details.
Contacting the owner revealed that the car had been violently taken from him at his home in Utako, Abuja, by a group of armed men.
“With this information in hand, the police launched a surveillance operation, ultimately leading to the arrest of the suspect, identified as Mubarak Kabiru, along Alkali Road in Kaduna.”
“Further investigation at Kabiru’s residence in Ishacool Hotel, Kabala Doki, Kaduna, uncovered an anti-tracking jammer.”
“During interrogation, Kabiru confessed to being part of a larger operation led by his boss, Dauda from Niger Republic.”
Their modus operandi involved stealing vehicles from various locations, including Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, and Abuja, and using the jammer to avoid detection.
“The stolen vehicles were then transported to border towns via Sokoto and Katsina before being sold in Niger Republic.”
Efforts are currently underway to apprehend Kabiru’s accomplices who are still at large. The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further interrogation and processing.
