Kano Pillars Begin Pre-season Training, Set Sights on NPFL Title

Kano Pillars Football Club has commenced preparations for the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, with the club setting its sights on winning the league title and securing continental football.

The four-time NPFL champions officially resumed pre-season training on Monday at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

The opening session was supervised by the club’s technical crew led by Head Coach Ahmed Yaro-Yaro and his assistant, Gambo Muhammad.

Players underwent light fitness drills and tactical exercises as the coaching staff assessed their fitness levels ahead of a more intensive pre-season programme.

Addressing the players before training, the club’s Chairman, Musbahu Garo, urged them to approach the new campaign with discipline, commitment and a winning mentality.

Represented by board member Alhaji Abba Galadima, Garo described the coming season as “a season of serious business” for the club.

He said the management remained committed to providing the support needed for the team to compete strongly for the NPFL title and qualify for continental competitions.

Garo also urged the players and coaching crew to justify the confidence reposed in them by delivering improved performances and consistent results throughout the season.

Speaking on behalf of the squad, team captain Rabiu Ali thanked the management for its continued support and assured supporters that the players were determined to restore the club’s status among Nigeria’s top football teams.

Head Coach Ahmed Yaro-Yaro also expressed appreciation for the management’s confidence in the technical crew.

He pledged to build a disciplined and competitive squad capable of challenging for major honours in the 2026/2027 campaign.
