The Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani announced an increase in the minimum wage for state civil servants, on Thursday.
Effective from November 2024, the minimum wage in Kaduna State will be raised to N72,000, a move that underscores the governor’s dedication to improving the livelihoods of workers and supporting the most vulnerable in society.
The decision reflects Governor Sani’s administration’s commitment to advancing the interests of workers and uplifting the living standards of those who are underserved.
Governor Sani has long been known for his advocacy for workers’ rights and dedication to social justice, and this new minimum wage policy is seen as a natural extension of his long-standing commitment to worker welfare and the protection of their rights.

To further support civil servants and ease their daily burdens, Governor Sani’s administration will also launch a Free Transportation Scheme.
This initiative will provide 100 buses powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to facilitate the daily commute of civil servants to and from work.
The Free Transportation Scheme is intended not only to reduce the financial strain on workers but also to enhance their productivity by providing reliable and cost-free transportation.
The administration has also announced the formation of a Joint Management Committee, which will include representatives from organized labor groups, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), along with state government representatives.
This committee will oversee the management and operations of the Free Transportation Scheme, ensuring that it serves the needs of workers effectively and equitably.
Governor Sani expressed his administration’s continued commitment to formulating and implementing policies that bring tangible relief to the people of Kaduna State, particularly the less privileged.
He stated that the government is focused on creating a model for social welfare interventions, with the aim of making Kaduna State a leader in worker welfare and poverty alleviation in Nigeria.
