In a swift and decisive move, the Kaduna State Security Council, led by Governor Uba Sani, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Kaduna and Zaria metropolitan cities, effective immediately. This drastic measure comes after a thorough review of the deteriorating security situation in the state.
According to a statement released by Samuel Aruwan, Overseeing Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, the ongoing protests have been hijacked by criminal elements, resulting in rampant looting and destruction of private and public property.
The Kaduna State Security Council has taken a firm stance against this chaos, unanimously resolving to impose the curfew to restore order and maintain safety. Citizens are sternly advised to remain indoors as security forces work tirelessly to quell the unrest.
The curfew will be continuously monitored, with reviews conducted as necessary, the statement said.
As the situation unfolds, residents are urged to cooperate with authorities and remain vigilant, reporting any suspicious activity to the relevant authorities.
