The Kaduna State Government has suspended activities planned for the 66th Independence Day celebration scheduled for Thursday, October 1.
The suspension took immediate effect from Monday, September 28, according to a public announcement issued by the state government.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki.
Maiyaki said the government regretted any inconvenience the decision might cause members of the public and other stakeholders.

He, however, appreciated residents and stakeholders for their cooperation, understanding and support regarding the suspension.
The state government had earlier scheduled various activities in Kaduna to commemorate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary on October 1.
