Manchester United has today confirmed the sacking of Erik ten Hag, who has left his role as the team’s first-team manager following a poor run at the start of the 2024/25 season.
“We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.”
The club’s swift action followed a 2-1 defeat to West Ham at the London Stadium yesterday, marking their eighth winless game, apart from a victory over Brentford during that period.
Erik joined the Red Devils in April 2022 and guided the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.
According to the club, former player and legend Ruud van Nistelrooy will act as interim manager while the club continues its search for a permanent manager:
“Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching staff, while a permanent head coach is recruited.”
