Jude Okoye Denies Diverting Mr P’s $1.2 Million Royalties

—

The public dispute between former P-Square manager Jude Okoye and his younger brother Peter Okoye, known as Mr P, continued this week as both men released statements contradicting each other over money, property and control of the group’s affairs.

Jude Okoye spoke first. In a video posted on Instagram on Sunday, August 2, he denied Mr P’s claim that he diverted more than $1.2 million in music royalties belonging to P-Square. He said the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had already investigated the matter and that it remained before the court. He accused his brother of trying to influence public opinion instead of appearing for trial. “You are trying to bait me,” Jude said, adding that Mr P had missed three court sittings.

Jude addressed a separate claim that he and Paul Okoye, known as Rudeboy, diverted a royalty payment of about $25,000. He said records from the digital distributor IROKO showed that Mr P had requested his own share be paid directly into his personal account in 2016, while the remaining balance for Jude and Rudeboy went into the group’s Northside Entertainment account.

He also disputed a claim that Mr P had been removed as a signatory on P-Square’s bank accounts, and said Mr P remained payable in United States dollars since 2012, not recently as alleged. Jude said his own bank account had been frozen for more than two years, a restriction that has stopped him from traveling.

On Tuesday, August 4, Mr P released a fifth video in his own series of allegations against Jude. This time, he focused on a property dispute he said took place in early 2015. He claimed a P-Square property in Atlanta, United States, had been listed for sale without his knowledge, and that he was later given documents to transfer his ownership rights, which he refused to sign.

Mr P said Jude threatened him during the disagreement, and that one such incident was captured on video while another was referenced in the letter announcing the group’s breakup in 2017.

He also disputed the widely held belief that Jude financed P-Square in its early years, saying that Jude was a student at the time like the rest of the group. According to Mr P, it was their eldest brother, Henry, who provided the group’s early financial support.

Both brothers agree that a court case tied to the royalty allegations remains active. Jude has repeatedly said the matter should be resolved in court rather than on social media, while continuing to respond publicly to each new claim from his brother. Neither Jude nor Mr P has indicated when the case is expected to conclude.
