Henry Okoye, elder brother of music duo P-Square, has accused his brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, of being responsible for the long-running crisis within the family.
Henry made the allegations during an interview with Nollyserve, where he opened up about the Okoye family’s bitter feud and disputed claims that Jude was instrumental to the success of Peter and Paul Okoye’s music career.
According to Henry, he was the first major financial supporter of Peter and Paul when they were trying to establish themselves in the music industry, insisting that Jude was not involved at the time.
“When they started this music, they were looking for sponsors. They didn’t get a sponsor. When I started sponsoring them, Jude was not there,” he said.
Henry further alleged that their late mother had initially opposed the idea of Jude managing the group because she allegedly knew his character.
“Before you could know it, Jude came in. We wanted to allow Jude to manage them, but my mum disagreed. She said she knew the kind of character Jude had,” he alleged.
He claimed that after Jude took over the management of P-Square, the relationship between the music duo and other members of the family deteriorated.
“What happened at last is that they started running away from everybody. We never knew that it was Jude that was causing the problem,” Henry said.
Henry also accused Jude of attempting to push other family members away, alleging that Jude questioned the percentage he was receiving and complained about the risks associated with the brothers’ international travels.
“He came now and is trying to chase everybody away, including Tony, P-Square’s immediate elder brother who was one of their dancers,” Henry alleged.
The elder Okoye also claimed that Jude had become distant from him and other members of the family, alleging that Jude failed to check on him while he was hospitalised.
“Almost a year to two years, I’m not talking to Jude. He doesn’t talk to me,” Henry said.
“I was admitted into the hospital for two months. Peter used to call me. Paul used to call me. Jude never called me once to know how I’m feeling. He doesn’t care for anybody.”
Henry also expressed concern about their youngest sister, alleging that she was struggling in Lagos without adequate support from the family.
He further described Paul as previously being the kindest member of the family but suggested that his relationship with Jude had influenced his present position in the family dispute.
Henry’s allegations come amid an escalating public feud involving Peter, Paul and Jude Okoye. Peter has released a series of tell-all videos accusing Jude of financial misconduct, threatening his life and attempting to take control of some of their assets. Jude has disputed several of the allegations.
The latest claims have added another layer to the increasingly publicised family dispute that has continued to dominate conversations around the former P-Square empire.
