The Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives, Philip Agbase has described as careless, unfortunate and unpatriotic, the comment made by the member representing Gwaram Federal Constituency in Jigawa State, Yusuf Galambi regarding the 2024 budget presentation by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Recall that Galambi a member of the NNPP disclosed in an interview with the BBC Hausa that Tinubu presented “empty boxes” for a budget. Galambi noted that the president only came out to play to the gallery and was not prepared for budget defence.

The NNPP parliamentarian was also quoted as saying that as against previous times, Tinubu could not in the process of his presentation give lawmakers copies of the documents.

Speaking to newsmen at the National Assembly Complex on Saturday 02 December 2023, Agbase criticized Galambi saying that the Jigawa lawmaker is suffering from inadequate listening at plenary sessions and post-election Tribunal fatigue.

He added that the 10th National Assembly of the House of Representatives does not condone frivolities from the executive or members of the general public.

The member representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency of Benue State revealed that as from Monday, ministries, Departments and Agencies would appear before their various committee to defend their budgets.

While stressing that such comments from the Jigawa lawmaker shouldn’t have been reported by any patriotic press anywhere in the world, Agbase described the 10th House as one of the most responsible parliaments in the world.

He equally maintained that activities of all the committee would be closely scrutinized by the the Speaker of the House Representatives.
