ISWAP, Boko Haram Clash in Bama as 18 Women Captured in Fresh Infighting

Fresh internal conflict has erupted between two rival terrorist factions, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS), also known as Boko Haram, following a violent confrontation in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security sources disclosed that the clash occurred at a location identified as “Markas” within the council area at about 3:41 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28.

According to the sources, the confrontation led to ISWAP fighters capturing 18 spouses of Boko Haram members.

The incident is believed to be part of ongoing hostilities between the two factions, which have increasingly turned their weapons against each other in recent months.

The infighting has reportedly resulted in significant losses on both sides, particularly among their dependents, further deepening the rift between the groups.

According to intelligence monitoring is ongoing, with early indications suggesting that the conflict is weakening coordination among terrorist elements operating in the region.

Security agencies are said to be closely tracking the situation as concerns grow over the implications of the renewed clashes on stability in Borno and surrounding areas.
