All Progressives Congress’ (APC) Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) will this Wednesday meet to consider the schedule of activities for the party’s forthcoming National Convention just as Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) announces that it has not officially declared ‘no election’ in Anambra State.
IPOB says its pre-occupation remains restoration of Biafra Republic, pointing out that it has no plans to attack Easterners and Southerners.
Its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, in a statement said IPOB is maintaining that violence is not part of its philosophy, and wonders how its members will be accused of attacking same people they were fighting for.
“It is important to note that contrary to speculations, IPOB has not officially declared ‘no election in Anambra State’. Our preoccupation is Biafra restoration.
“Anybody equating IPOB strategy with Boko Haram terrorists, bandits and herdsmen is ignorant and mischievous. Many acclaimed Northerners don’t know what we are doing to restore Biafra.
“We read with amusement, a fallacious media remark by one inconsequential Shekau, a self- acclaimed supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari where he displayed his ignorance and cluelessness about IPOB, our Leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and the goings-on in Biafra land.
“As much as we would not want to dignify this amorphous fellow with a response, the pertinent question is: who is this Shekau without a surname that a national newspaper should publish?
“It is a pity that this ignoble fellow and attention seeker compared a non-violent movement like IPOB to Boko Haram terrorists created and groomed by the North to kill Jewish and Christian adherents, Indigenous Northerners and security agents.
“IPOB has seen numerous false propaganda in the past and we are not in any way moved by this latest vomit. We know the antics of our enemies who are never tired of sponsoring media lies to cover up their evil and rubbish our struggle for independence but we are not deterred.
“Contrary to the vomit by this inconsequential fellow, IPOB has no plans to attack South Easterners and South Southerners. In the first place, violence is not part of our philosophy. Assuming we want to resort to violence, how can we attack our people whom we are fighting for?
“It does not make any sense. But we know their motive for peddling this falsehood as our intelligent report confirm the importation and stock piling of arms from Pakistan for their planned invasion of Biafraland but we are waiting for them”, IPOB says.
However, the APC meeting which was initially slated for Tuesday, was allegedly shifted to this Wednesday on the orders of its Caretaker Chairman and Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State.
At the moment, there is ongoing compilation of petitions and reports of the ward and local government congresses appeal committees. The appeal committee report is one of the major issues slated for deliberation at the routine meeting of the CECPC.
The Buni team, according to a report by The Nation, will take reports on the level of preparedness by the Directorate of Organisations on the rescheduled party-state congresses and approve the schedule of activities for the state congress.
While the meeting will also approve the membership of the organising committee for the October 16, 2021 State Congresses of the party, it will equally be preparing a position on the controversial zoning arrangement ahead of the party’s National Convention to be presented at the forthcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting after the State Congresses.
In a statement by the Caretaker Committee Secretary, John James Akpanudoedehe, CECPC last Wednesday announced two- week shift of the State Congresses from October 2 to Saturday, October 16. According to the party scribe, the shift was in honor of the nation’s 61st independence celebration and to enable governors, lawmakers and party members to celebrate the anniversary in their various States.
“They need to honor the country’s 61st Independence anniversary, which holds a day before the initial date fixed for the state congresses, informed the new date. Governors, Ministers, and party members will be involved in the Independence celebrations in their various states. The party decided to reschedule the state congresses to allow all our members to participate in the Independence celebration”, he said.
