Technology company, ipNX Nigeria, has called for innovation-friendly regulations and stronger opportunities for local technology players to enable Nigeria to maximize the economic and social benefits of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The company’s Chief Technology Architect, Mr Oluwaseun Oluboyo, made the call in a statement on Tuesday.
Oluboyo said Nigeria needed an environment where businesses and technology companies could experiment, collaborate and learn continuously while protecting consumers.
“If you do not try new things and only stick to what is familiar, we are not going to progress as a society or ecosystem.
“Innovation requires the confidence to explore new ideas while ensuring that customers remain protected,” he said.
He urged policymakers to develop flexible AI governance frameworks that can adapt to emerging technologies and evolving industry needs without unnecessarily restricting innovation.
According to him, organizations should focus on desired outcomes while creating sufficient room for experimentation and continuous improvement.
Oluboyo also called for increased opportunities for Nigerian technology talents to innovate, build and thrive within the country, saying this would strengthen the local technology ecosystem and reduce the loss of skilled professionals.

He said a supportive innovation environment would enable organizations to adopt AI responsibly while accelerating digital transformation across various sectors of the economy.
The technology expert stressed that sustained investment in digital infrastructure, skills development and innovation ecosystems was critical to positioning Nigeria to fully harness the economic and societal benefits of AI.
He further advocated stronger collaboration among technology companies, policymakers and other stakeholders to promote the responsible, inclusive and sustainable deployment of AI in Nigeria.
