A promoter of the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), Dr. Umar Ardo, has vowed to challenge the registration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), alleging that the party’s approval by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not follow due process.
Ardo claimed the NDC was registered without meeting key legal requirements, including proper application, documentation, and screening, insisting the process violated INEC guidelines and the Nigerian Constitution.
He also questioned the court order that led to the party’s registration, arguing that similar applications by ADA were rejected despite compliance with all requirements.
The controversy follows INEC’s confirmation that the NDC was registered based on a court ruling, while ADA and several other associations were denied registration.
In response, the NDC dismissed Ardo’s allegations as false and misleading, maintaining that its registration was lawful and court-backed.
Ardo, however, insisted he would pursue legal action against both INEC and the NDC, alleging inconsistencies in the registration process and judicial handling of related cases
