After a long history of high-profile relationships, including four marriages and seven engagements, Jennifer Lopez is finally content being on her own.
Following her recent divorce from Ben Affleck, the singer and actress opened up about finding peace within herself during an interview with Interview Magazine.
Reflecting on her personal journey, Lopez revealed that she’s no longer seeking a new partner and is embracing the idea of being single.
In a candid conversation, the interviewer, Glazer, touched on self-love, asking, “We all know the saying, ‘You have to love yourself before someone else can love you.’ Do you feel like you’re finally practicing that now?”
Lopez responded thoughtfully, sharing her experience: “That’s something that used to confuse me. I thought I had to be perfect to be loved, like my flaws would push people away. But what I’ve learned is that true love helps you heal those broken parts of yourself. It’s a secure kind of love.”
She continued, “When someone truly loves you, they make you feel safe. Even when you’re not at your best, they understand you and help you grow.
You set boundaries for each other, and you both work on getting better together. That’s what love is supposed to be.”
When the conversation shifted to her future in relationships, Lopez dropped a surprising statement. “I’m not setting any new standards for a partner because I’m not looking for anyone,” she said with a smile. “How’s that for an answer?”
This was a significant moment for Lopez, as she admitted that it was the first time she’s fully embraced being single.
“It’s funny,” she laughed, “For people like me, who love the idea of being in relationships and growing old with someone, we often think we need that to feel complete. But guess what? You don’t. It took me 30 years to figure that out.”
