First lady, FRN, Oluremi Tinubu

The wife of the President, Senator Remi Tinubu, spoke about a threat to her life. She said she’s not scared because she’s already 60 years old.

She said this when she visited the Palace of Emir of Bauchi, Adamu Suleiman Rilwanu, on Tuesday. She thanked the Bauchi State Governor for assuring her safety.

She said, “I am too old to be afraid. If God has given me over 60 years on earth, I shouldn’t be afraid of death.” She also said Nigeria belongs to everyone and it’s time for unity”.

The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, condemned the threats made against the First Lady. He said it was embarrassing that the threats came from someone in Bauchi State.

“And of course, I am aware of some of the challenges and threats to your life and person by somebody from this State”.

He apologized to Mrs. Tinubu for the incident and promised to take action against the cleric who made the threats.

Governor Mohammed praised Mrs. Tinubu for her courage in visiting Bauchi despite the threats.

He said she has set a good example by putting aside political differences. He assured her that nothing would happen to her and promised to deal with the cleric who made the threats.

“Your Excellency, you have distinguished yourself not only as a distinguished Senator but as a politician that has opened the new frontier of politics and politicking.”

“Your renewed hope is being given as hope because you have set aside all the differences of politics and partisanship.”

“I was so disappointed and frustrated, but you made my day as a courageous mother, you decided to come to Bauchi.”

He apologized on behalf of the people of Bauchi for the embarrassment caused by the threats.
